Dear Friends,  

I always enjoy meeting people after Masses, as it is an opportunity to connect with others, meet visitors, or hear what is going on in the lives of parishioners. I want parishioners to feel free to ask for a blessing on their wedding anniversary. A very simple blessing is offered to honor another year of married life. Students ask for blessings as they prepare for a major test or leave home for the first time. Illness comes to people, and there is a need to receive a blessing for healing. After any Mass, the priest is always available to offer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. After I am done greeting people, we can gather with the person asking for the anointing, and the prayer is brief, simple, and beautiful. It is even better when family and friends come with the person, and everyone prays over their loved one. 

I want to invite parishioners who have been coming to St. Patrick for a long time but have never taken the time to stop and say hello to do so. It would be great to meet you and say hello. It is always a blessing when people gather for worship and are seen by others, which is central to loving God and neighbor. These blessings and touch points are an important part of being your Pastor.

FUNERAL RECEPTION HOSPITALITY- St. Patrick is known for its radical hospitality, and so we are blessed to celebrate many funerals in our church and chapel. Afterward, some families like to take a moment after the Mass to be together, enjoy a meal, and reminisce about their loved one. Our Funeral Reception Hospitality Ministry helps make this opportunity available for the many families who come to St. Patrick for funerals. The ministers are present to greet the caterers, ready drinks, and greet the guests when they walk over from the Mass. LAST SUNDAY’S HOMILY- The term Kingdom of God can sometimes be thought of as heaven, a place. That is not what it means. The Kingdom of God is a way of life: when we live in the way God wants us to by our behavior and loving one another, there is the Kingdom of God.
