Dear Friends,
Thanks to everyone in the parish who is making our Vacation Bible School another great time for our children. To the parishioners, adults, parents, and youth who have been offering their mornings for the children, our thanks. Many of the children will be at the 10:30 Mass this Sunday to sing a couple of songs they learned this week.
SALESIAN SISTERS FROM SAN ANTONIO- The nuns from the west side of San Antonio, Texas, are becoming well known throughout Texas and the sports world. These nuns work at a place called St. John Bosco and work with the youth, which is their mission as Salesian Sisters. The San Antonio Spurs made the NBA finals, and we know there is more PR for these Sisters who have been big fans of the Spurs for many years. The place they use for the youth needs repairs, and I am sure this notoriety will bring about good things for their ministry. Here is a video that explains the work of the nuns.
Pope Leo has given the entire world his first Papal Encyclical on Artificial Intelligence. An Encyclical is a pastoral letter from the Pope addressed to all Catholics and to all people of goodwill. An Encyclical offers Catholic doctrine and moral guidance and can address contemporary issues, social, ethical, and spiritual.
The title of this Encyclical is MAGNIFICA HUMANITAS, which means magnificent humanity. The beauty of our Catholic unity is that the Holy Father can speak and the world can stop, listen, and decide what to do. No matter all the struggles, brokenness, and apathy of some people, the attention of many in the world is to know that our faith offers things that are good for humanity. I am grateful that this letter offers the world an opportunity to discuss this important issue and to safeguard the dignity of all human beings.
Below, I am offering a few links to help learn more about Magnifica Humanitas. First is the actual document. It is lengthy, and some who are interested in this subject might read it. Another link I offer from US Catholic gives ten points made in the document. Also, there is a link to our Auxiliary Bishop Peter Bui, who speaks on what more there is to know about this encyclical. Finally, a link from Vatican News.
I will be offering these links throughout the summer, and I am sure more information will be coming out about this document from Pope Leo and the commentary and reaction from many.
