Dear Friends,  

The humanitarian need for the people of Venezuela is great, and last Sunday we had a collection for the parish to help them after experiencing two major earthquakes. I want to thank parishioners for remembering the people who are suffering greatly, and whether through prayers, financial giving, or comforting family members living here, I think it is good we live our faith by sharing with those who are hurting at this time.  

Here is the link to Catholic Relief Services (CRS) that goes to their page that explains how they are helping people there and how we can donate to this important cause. Our collection from last Sunday goes through our Diocese, and it will go directly to CRS.

NEW AIR CONDITIONING UNITS ARE ON ORDER- Our AC units in the church have lasted for 25 years, and now there is a need to purchase two units now, and we are planning to purchase two more next year. There is a need for four total units for the church. It will take some time to have the two AC units delivered and installed, but our team has done some work to make sure we can make it through the hot summer. 

Now these units are very expensive, but I remind parishioners that because of your constant giving and our Finance Council and parish staff, we have the expenses covered. We also have some other major work to be done on our campus as well, and that is covered. We are blessed through the constant giving. We ask that parishioners continue to give, so that we can replace the amounts used to keep us on solid ground. I am grateful for the generosity of many parishioners.

POPE LEO’S TALK FROM LAST SUNDAY- Every Sunday the Pope gives a talk called the Angelus, and he gave a special talk about last Sunday’s Gospel on the parable of the wheat and the weeds.

LAST SUNDAY’S HOMILY- When we find ourselves on the receiving end of someone's anger, someone’s impatience, or their harsh words, we only see them as bad behavior. The parable of the wheat and the weeds might remind us that sometimes we need to push the weeds aside to really see what is going on in another person’s life. What is really happening that is causing poor behavior? I try to give some examples of what can happen when we look beyond the weeds that are in the way.
