First Down with Fr. Eric (March 16, 2025)
Posted on: Mar 16, 2025
Dear Friends,
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! This weekend at our 8:30 and 10:30 am Masses, we welcome Bishop John Dolan to our parish community. This will be his third visit to our parish as last year he celebrated two First Communion/Confirmation ceremonies. Even though we are in the midst of the Lent season, a parish can use the Sunday Masses to celebrate the parish feast day. So our prayers at Masses this weekend will be celebrating the Feast of St. Patrick.
Our parish was established in 1980 and the name St. Patrick was chosen. Father Brian Fenlon was our founding pastor. For 45 years we have been blessed by the Lord with a community that has been generous with its resources to serve the community at large. Our sanctuary has a round altar at the center showing that the table of the Lord is central to this community gathering. The altar is approachable from every side and belongs to the baptized. St. Patrick for many years has guided its people to be church in the world. We take what we do in this sacred space and go out into the world.
Here is one thing I know for sure, St. Patrick’s Day is the most well-known feast day in our country. Even those who are not Christian know of and even celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Now that is a great opportunity to evangelize to the entire world.
Welcome Bishop Dolan and Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone.
Peace in Christ,
Fr. Eric
