Dear Friends,
Happy New Year!
Reaching milestones is a common experience for human beings. We use the measurement of time to give structure to how we might view our lives. We begin the new year of 2023 and many of us look to a new year with optimism and hope that we can have a good year, that one can do things a little better, that things we have wanted to do might begin this year. We might also begin the year remembering those who we have lost through death, separation or simply drifted away over time. These losses in life can be reminders of what we once had, what memories we recall, or know that one day we will all be reunited in God’s kingdom.
Every year has its joys and sorrows, accomplishments and failings, gains and losses. Yet as Christians we remember that another year is a gift from God.
We give thanks to God for not only reaching a milestone, but we recall the promise from God to be with us for the new year ahead. One can feel that one is not accomplishing what one desires, yet we can recall a God of patience, a God who offers grace, a God that walks with us at all times.
Blessings to everyone for this new year of 2023.
Peace in Christ,
Fr. Eric
